Impaired picture quality

I’m connecting my laptop and desktop computer via a 4k type-C to HDMI, but the picture quality is very damaged. What can I do to solve this problem, please?

If you offer the laptop model, maybe I can give a better answer. However, it is probable that the problem is in the HDMI standard of your laptop, which may not support 4k output.

Firstly, ensure that the video quality you want to play is 4K or higher. Additionally, ensure that the device you want to play this video on can play videos with 4K or higher resolution and already set to 4K or higher resolution.
Once these conditions are all set, if the video you are playing still appears blurry, the cable you are using is likely the issue. First, make sure that all the wires you are using support 4K. Additionally, there may be some signal loss during the transmission process. Still, if the difference in picture quality is bigger, I suggest trying other HDMI cables or adapter devices to determine which device has the problem.
I hope you can resolve this issue soon, as no one wants to watch their favorite videos with poor picture quality; it’s simply torturous!

If your laptop and desktop both have multiple HDMI ports, try connecting the cables to different ports. It may just be that the current HDMI port is faulty.

Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and improve the situation:

  1. Cable quality: Ensure that you are using a high-quality USB Type-C to HDMI cable capable of supporting 4K resolutions and that it is properly connected to both your laptop and desktop.
  2. Update drivers: Make sure to update the graphics drivers on both your laptop and desktop. Outdated drivers may not provide optimal support for 4K resolutions, which can result in reduced picture quality. Visit the manufacturer’s website to download and install the latest drivers.
  3. Display settings: Adjust the display settings on both your laptop and desktop to match the optimal resolution and refresh rate for your monitor. Right-click on the desktop, select Display Settings, and choose the correct resolution (3840x2160 for 4K) and refresh rate (usually 60Hz) for the connected display.
  4. Check cable/ports: Inspect the cable for any signs of damage or fraying. Additionally, check the USB Type-C and HDMI ports on both devices for debris or physical damage. Try using a different HDMI cable or USB Type-C to HDMI adapter to see if the problem persists.
  5. Try a different display: Check if the issue is specific to the connected display. Connect your laptop to a different 4K monitor or TV using the same cable and see if the picture quality improves. This can help identify whether the issue lies with the cable, laptop, or desktop.
  6. Graphics settings: Ensure that the graphics settings are optimized for the display. On Windows, right-click on the desktop, open the graphics control panel (e.g., Intel Graphics Command Center, NVIDIA Control Panel, or AMD Radeon Settings), and make sure the settings match the connected display.
  7. Test different resolutions: If the issue persists, try reducing the resolution to 1080p or lower and check if the picture quality improves. If the lower resolution works fine, there might be compatibility issues with the 4K resolution.

If none of these steps solve the issue, it could be an incompatibility problem with your specific devices or a fault with the cable. Consider reaching out to the product manufacturer’s support for further assistance.
