Pass Through RJ45 Connector, YES or NO??

My friend is a network engineer, and he doesn’t recommend using pass-through RJ45 connectors. The chances of corrosion are higher when the core wire passes through the end, and it may also lead to short circuits in the wire pairs.
Is this correct?

Network professionals prefer to use standard RJ45 connectors. But if you’re new to network installation, and find it difficult to terminate standard RJ45 connectors, pass-thru connectors are a great choice.
I have installed pass-thru connectors and it was easier to terminate than other standard RJ45 connectors.

Yes, your friend is correct. Pass-through RJ45 connectors allow eight copper wires of the Ethernet cable to pass through the end and then they can be trimmed and crimped by the RJ45 crimping tool. While these connectors may be convenient and allow for faster termination, they have a higher risk of corrosion and potential short circuits.
If the ends of copper wires are exposed to the air, they become vulnerable to environmental factors such as moisture and dust, leading to corrosion over time. And it will finally cause signal degradation and potential network issues.
Additionally, suppose the core wire is not terminated correctly, it can cause short circuits within the wire pairs, resulting in network signal interference and connectivity problems.
To ensure a reliable and stable connection, we recommend using standard RJ45 connectors.

can’t agree more, for an unskilled novice, pass-through is easier to install.

There are a few things to consider about pass-through RJ45 connectors.
Regarding corrosion, pass-through RJ45 connectors are more susceptible to corrosion than standard connectors.
In terms of short circuits, neither pass-through connectors nor standard connectors inherently lead to short courses if they are manufactured and installed correctly.
In terms of network performance, as with standard connectors, a properly terminated pass-through connector will not significantly impact network performance when installed correctly.
So, whether it is a pass-through or standard connector, ensuring the connector is installed correctly can minimize potential problems.
