Is the tool-free RJ45 connector truly “tool-free”? What are its advantages and disadvantages compared to traditional RJ45 connectors?
For me, tool free means that you don’t need to purchase professional crimping tools, but you still need scissors and some tools for pressing. It’s easy for beginners. However, if you’re a professional engineer, purchasing traditional connectors and professional tools is the most suitable choice for you.
I don’t think it’s really “tool free”, you still need a wire stripping tool and cutter. And it’s too expensive for a home network.
In my experience, what they mean by tool-free is just that you don’t need a crimping tool. The other stripping and cutting tools are still very much needed.
The tool-free RJ45 connector is not truly without using any tools, as some tools, such as scissors and wire strippers, are still required during use.
Compared to traditional RJ45 connectors, the tool-free RJ45 connector does not require a crimping tool for the crimping process, and installation is more convenient. Additionally, the tool-free RJ45 connector is usually reusable, allowing for easy remedying of mistakes made during wiring.
However, the tool-free RJ45 connector is typically more expensive. Furthermore, there may be some difficulties in closing the top cover, but tools such as pliers can be used to close the lid conveniently.
